Green synthesized nanomaterials as an alternative to restricted chemicals in postharvest preservation of horticultural crops: a review

چکیده
Synthetic chemicals have been successfully used to control economic postharvest pathogens such as Botrytis cinerea, Penicillium spp., Rhizopus etc., thus reducing losses. However, their active ingredient and co-formulants resulted in use being restricted internationally due health concerns consumers’ requests for safe natural alternatives. As an alternative chemicals, green synthesized nanomaterials incorporated with edible coatings a polymer matrix applied on horticultural crops improve shelf-life Due known antimicrobial activities, plant extracts nanoparticles silver zinc oxide food processing applications. Green sources are stabilizer agents synthesize shape sizecontrolled metal nanoparticles. Thus, eco-friendly produced without using toxic materials cost-effective. Edible form thin layer that prevents oxidation, maintains the product quality, can be safely eaten part of product, does not add unfavourable properties. Studies showed or losses fruit plums, raspberries, etc.

Vitamin C, including ascorbic acid and dehydroascorbic acid, is one of the most important nutritional quality factors in many horticultural crops and has many biological activities in the human body. The content of vitamin C in fruits and vegetables can be influenced by various factors such as genotypic differences, preharvest climatic conditions and cultural practices, maturity and harvesting ...
متن کاملFortifying Horticultural Crops with Essential Amino Acids: A Review
To feed the world's growing population, increasing the yield of crops is not the only important factor, improving crop quality is also important, and it presents a significant challenge. Among the important crops, horticultural crops (particularly fruits and vegetables) provide numerous health compounds, such as vitamins, antioxidants, and amino acids. Essential amino acids are those that canno...
متن کاملSelenium Enrichment of Horticultural Crops.
The ability of some crops to accumulate selenium (Se) is crucial for human nutrition and health. Selenium has been identified as a cofactor of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which is a catalyzer in the reduction of peroxides that can damage cells and tissues, and can act as an antioxidant. Plants are the first link in the food chain, which ends with humans. Increasing the Se quantity in pla...
